Men's white gold & diamond ring.

The three images above are of a ring I designed for my 20th wedding anniversary. Made of white gold, the size and shape of the ring was determined almost entirely by the size and shape of the 4.8 carat rough diamond it houses. This diamond was formed roughly 1.6 billion years ago in the Argyle diamond pipe in Kimberly, Western Australia and has not been polished or altered by man. The carved pattern on the side was taken from a stone carving in the 14th century Moorish Alhambra palace/fortress in Grenada, Spain. The same pattern is also used on the shank of another ring I designed for my wife's 20th wedding anniversary ring. The ring was made by Jewelry Design Center. I cannot say enough about the friendly and knowledgeable staff at JDC. They really made this whole effort a pleasure. I would especially like to thank Teresa, Meaghan and Darci for all of their help in getting the design out of my head and into two finished rings.
Microscopic and close up view of 4.80 carat grey octahedral rough diamond.
The top and bottom images on the left are microscopic views of
the rough diamond pictured on the right. They were taken using a Nikon
microscope @50x. The top image is composed of 17 separate images and the bottom
image is composed of 27 separate images. Each of the left images can be clicked
on to link to a larger, higher resolution image. Focus is a bit off in areas of
each image due to the lack of depth of field of the microscope as well as
difficulty in stitching the images together.
